## Ostrom adapts to the market conditions. Ostrom still sells electricity at cost and customers remain flexible!

**Ostrom remains true to itself. A flexible tariff with no minimum contract period and 100% green energy. We continue to sell electricity at the purchase price and only charge a monthly basic fee of 6€. Therefore, Ostrom does not profit from the rising electricity prices, as the purchase price for us also increases by the same amount as for our customers.**

Ostrom, along with every other provider, is simply reflecting the current energy pricing landscape. The following chart shows how the price of electricity has changed within a year. While the average price/kWh was still 7.4 cents in June 2021, one year later it was priced at about 22 cents – **an increase of 195%**.

##### **As you can see in the picture below, the average price/kWh is now close to 60 cents. An all-time high!**

## Reduced Gas Supply From Russia Drives Up Electricity Prices

One of the main reasons for the rising electricity prices is the reduced amount of gas deliveries of only 20% of the maximum capacity through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. Why the amount of gas deliveries is related to the price of electricity can be read [here](/content/post/the-merit-order-and-how-it-affects-electricity-prices/index.html).
